the northern part of the Ruhr region, Germany, 70 kilometres from Düsseldorf, and 40 kilometres from Dortmund, Germany. The PS and EPS production facilities are fully integrated into the Marl Chemical Park, the third largest chemicals site in Germany with an area of 6.5 qm (1,605-acres), 1,250 kilometres of pipelines and 55 km of streets. Other globally acting companies operating in the park include Air Liquide, Degussa/RAG, Lanxess, Polymer Latex and Sasol. BP acquired the Marl facility in 1998 from Chemische Werke Hüls. INEOS NOVA has approximately 125 employees, whilst the total Marl Chemical Park employs 10,300 people. EPS and PS Production INEOS NOVA’s Marl plant is capable of producing approximately 180 kilo tonnes of PS and 85 kilo tonnes of EPS annually. Styrene monomer for the production of PS and EPS is supplied from Innovene’s production facilitiesEnd Use Products Standard PS resins from Marl are used in Food Packaging such as yoghurt cups, television exterior boxes and CD packages, whilst EPS is used for insulation in the construction industry as well as in packaging. Performance products manufactured in Marl include the antistatic polystyrene Empera 153A. As the Styrenics market is highly competitive, the Marl plant has accelerated its strategy of continuous efficiency improvement in order to strengthen further the competitiveness of this site whilst maintaining the good track record in safety and environment. The Marl site is ISO 9001 and 14001 (English, German) certified and received an EMAS certificate (English, German).
