INEOS NOVA’s production plant for continuous mass polymerization of Styrene at Trelleborg, in southern Sweden, is one of the most modern in the whole of Europe. Together with the plants at Marl it became a BP manufacturing site with the purchase of the Styrenics business of the Hüls group in 1998.

Starting in 1979 with a 25 kilo tonnes p.a. high-impact polystyrene line on the basis of the McCurdy-process, licensed by Cosden/Fina, a new line for crystal clear polystyrene (GPPS) was established in 1988, totalling the capacity to 50 kt per annum. After removing some bottlenecks and the construction of a distillation plant to recycle styrene, the annual capacity was increased to today’s 85 kilo tonnes.

Located on the shore-line of the Baltic Sea, some 30 km south of Malmö the factory at Trelleborg does not only work extremely cost-effectively on a high standard of quality, it has also been designed for a maximum of environmental compatibility. About 55 employees work at the facility.
